Unter der Initiative von „AFRA -International Center for Black Women's Perspectives“ und koorganisiert von „Tiye International“ fand in Wien der 1. Europäische Schwarze Frauen Kongress statt.

Organisiert im Rahmen des „ Europäischen Jahres für Chancengleichheit für Alle“, brachte der 1. Europäische Schwarze Frauen Kongress, einmalig in dieser Art, von 27 – 29 September 2007, über 100 schwarze Frauen von 16 EU Mitgliedstaaten, der Schweiz und den USA zusammen.

„BEWNET- Black European Women's Network“ (Europäisches Schwarze Frauen Netzwerk) ist gegründet worden, um die Notwendigkeit und Bereitschaft zum gemeinsamen Dialog und gemeinsamen Handleln mit entsprechenden EU Institutionen zu signalisieren. „BEWNET“ wird offiziell im Rahmen des Europäischen Jahres des Interkulturellen Dialoges 2008 vorgestellt.

AFRA’s Press Release on the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2008

Six months after the 1st Black European Women’s Congress in Vienna 2007 and in relation to the International Women’s Day 2008 and the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, AFRA – International Center for Black Women’s Perspectives (Austria) and Tiye International (The Netherlands) are again organising the first Strategic/Working Meeting of the Black European Women’s Network – BEWNET in Vienna, from the 13th - 14th of March 2008. BEWNET was founded at the Viennese Congress in September 2007.
