AFRA is A non-profit, non-governmental self-organization
and NGO of Black Women with headquarters in Vienna,
Austria. Black Women and children belong to those
visible minorities who are exposed to multiple discrimination
in every day life.


AFRA is a non-profit, non governmental self-organisation and NGO of Black Women with headquarter in Vienna, Austria. Black Women and children belong to that visible minority in Europe, which is still exposed to different forms of multiple discrimination in everyday life.

AFRA’s main challenges are identifying and addressing critical needs of Black European Women and children, in Austria particularly and in Europe generally. AFRA is commited to work out individual solutions, mainstreaming, networking, lobbying, and raising public awareness both at national and global levels on challenges faced by Black Communites across Europe, and positioning the spezial needs of Black Communities especially those affecting Black Women and children on the agenda of the European Union.

OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF THE BLACK EUROPEAN WOMEN’S COUNCIL

Brussels, September 9, 2008
Today, following on the success of last year’s First Black Women’s Council Congress in Europe, AFRA- The International Center for Black Women’s Perspectives (Austria) in cooperation with the European Economic and Social Committee, hosted a High Level Roundtable Discussion making the official launch of the Black European Women’s Council –BEWC on the “Role of Black Women in an all inclusive Europe, challenges faced by Black European Communities.”

The meeting took place today, September 9, at the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee, in Brussels. The conference was facilitated by Brenda King, President of the specialised section in Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship (SOC) of the Brussels-based European Economic and Social Committee.
